15-Year-Old Arrested After High-Speed Kuna Police Pursuit Ends in Crash Near Ten Mile and Overland Roads

A 15-year-old boy is in juvenile detention following a reckless early-morning vehicle pursuit in Ada County that began in Meridian, tore through a Kuna residential subdivision, and ended with a PIT maneuver near South Ten Mile Road and West Overland Road on Saturday. The Ada County Sheriff’s Office confirmed the incident, which left damaged property in its wake and raised serious public safety concerns for families living near the affected neighborhoods in the Treasure Valley.

How the Kuna Police Pursuit Began

According to a press release from the Ada County Sheriff’s Office (ACSO), a Kuna police deputy was dispatched at approximately 4:02 a.m. Saturday after a concerned citizen reported a suspected drunk driver traveling south on South Meridian Road near East Victory Road in Meridian. Dispatchers relayed that the vehicle was swerving and failing to maintain its lane — behavior consistent with an impaired driver operating a dangerous vehicle in the early morning hours.

The deputy located the vehicle near West Whitetail Court and North Deerhorn Avenue in Kuna and attempted a traffic stop. Rather than comply, the driver accelerated and fled, initiating the pursuit that would span multiple streets and neighborhoods before officers were able to bring it to a stop.

Pursuit Tears Through Kuna Subdivision, Striking Property and Nearly Hitting a Home

What followed was a chaotic chase through residential streets in and around Kuna. The vehicle traveled west on East Deer Flat Road before entering the Crimson Point subdivision, where the consequences of the reckless driving became immediately apparent to anyone in the area. According to ACSO, the fleeing vehicle struck an electrical box, hit a parked car, and came dangerously close to crashing into a home — a scenario that could have had devastating consequences for any family inside.

After cutting through the subdivision, the vehicle exited the neighborhood and continued through several additional streets. Deputies deployed a PIT maneuver — a controlled tactic used by law enforcement to bring a fleeing vehicle to a stop — near the intersection of South Ten Mile Road and West Overland Road. The technique was successful in stopping the car, but the situation was far from over.

Following the PIT maneuver, the driver made one final attempt to escape, crashing into a tree before trying to flee on foot. Deputies moved quickly to remove other occupants from the vehicle and pursued the driver on foot, ultimately apprehending the suspect a short distance away.

Impact on Kuna and Ada County Residents

The incident underscores the real and immediate danger that reckless driving and vehicle pursuits pose to Ada County neighborhoods. The Crimson Point subdivision, a quiet residential community in Kuna, sustained property damage from the chase. Residents in the area who may have been asleep during the 4 a.m. incident woke to find their neighborhood had been the scene of a dangerous police pursuit involving a juvenile driver.

The damage — including a struck electrical box and a hit parked vehicle — left homeowners dealing with the aftermath of someone else’s reckless decision-making. The fact that the driver was only 15 years old adds another layer of concern for parents and community members throughout Ada County who are watching trends in juvenile crime and reckless behavior closely.

The 15-year-old suspect was taken into custody and is currently held in juvenile detention. No injuries to deputies, bystanders, or the vehicle’s other occupants were reported in the ACSO press release. The identity of the juvenile has not been released, consistent with standard practice when minors are involved in criminal proceedings in Idaho.

What Comes Next

The case will be referred through Ada County’s juvenile justice system, where prosecutors will determine the appropriate charges based on the suspect’s age and the circumstances of the incident. Charges could include felony eluding, reckless driving, and property damage, among others — though the specific charges have not yet been publicly confirmed by ACSO.

Ada County residents who witnessed any part of the pursuit or sustained property damage as a result of the incident are encouraged to contact the Ada County Sheriff’s Office directly.
