Former Boise school bus driver agrees to plead guilty to child porn crimes

A former Boise School District bus driver has agreed to plead guilty to three counts of possessing child sexually exploitive material, entering a plea deal in a case that also involved charges of child injury and animal cruelty. Brian Hendricks is scheduled to be sentenced July 10 at the Ada County Courthouse before 4th District Judge James Cawthon.

How the Investigation Began

The Idaho Attorney General’s Office launched its investigation into Hendricks in July 2025 after receiving a tip through CyberTip, a national reporting system that flags online exploitation of children. Investigators determined that an account believed to be connected to Hendricks had uploaded material, including content flagged under the highest levels of severity. That same account was traced to a login made over Boise School District WiFi at 3:35 p.m. on the day in question.

Investigators from the AG’s office and the Boise Police Department executed a search of Hendricks’ home in early August 2025. Authorities reported finding children and an animal living in conditions described as presenting “imminent danger.” Hendricks was taken into custody and subsequently charged with seven felony counts of possessing child sexual exploitation material, in addition to four felony child injury counts and a misdemeanor animal cruelty charge in a separate case.

Plea Agreements and Sentencing Details

Under the plea deal reached on May 1, Hendricks agreed to plead guilty to three of the original seven exploitation material counts. Prior to this agreement, he had already pleaded guilty to four misdemeanor child injury counts in the separate case and was ordered to serve a total of 180 days in the Ada County Jail. The animal cruelty charge was dropped at the prosecutor’s request.

Hendricks’ wife, Rochelle Hendricks, also faced charges in connection with the child injury case. She pleaded guilty to two counts of child injury, with the remaining counts dismissed as part of her own plea agreement. She was sentenced to one year of supervised probation.

Brian Hendricks now faces sentencing on July 10 at 3 p.m. Under Idaho state law, each count of possessing child sexual exploitation material carries a maximum penalty of up to 10 years in prison.

Employment Background and School District Response

Hendricks was not a direct employee of the Boise School District. He worked for Durham School Services, a contractor that provides transportation for the district. After news of his arrest became public, Durham terminated his employment. The company stated that Hendricks had cleared its standard background check at the time of hire.

The Boise School District noted that it had received no complaints or reports concerning Hendricks while he was employed through the contractor. The case raises questions about the oversight of contracted employees who work in close proximity to students, a concern that parents and school administrators across Ada County will likely be weighing in the months ahead. What Comes Next

Brian Hendricks is set to appear for formal sentencing on July 10 at 3:00 p.m. before 4th District Judge James Cawthon at the Ada County Courthouse in Boise. Given the plea agreement covers three felony counts of child exploitation material possession, each carrying a maximum sentence of 10 years, the outcome of the sentencing hearing will be closely watched by the community.

Parents and community members concerned about child safety in the Boise School District or with questions about contractor employee screening policies are encouraged to contact the district directly or attend upcoming school board meetings, where such policy matters can be raised publicly.
