The Ada County Coroner has identified a 14-year-old Middleton resident who died after being struck by a vehicle while riding an electric bike near his high school. Carson Chrapkowski was pronounced dead at St. Luke’s Medical Center in Boise at 2:46 a.m. Saturday, following the Friday night collision.
Coroner Rules Cause of Death
Officials determined that multiple blunt force injuries to the torso caused Chrapkowski’s death. The teenager was transported via Life Flight to the Boise hospital after the incident occurred near Middleton High School. The Middleton Police Department described the tragedy as “an unimaginable loss” and extended condolences to the family.
Driver Faces Felony Charges
Alyssa Louise Anderson, 41, also known as Alyssa Louise Farber, was arrested in connection with the crash. Prosecutors allege Anderson was driving a silver Ford Escape and had consumed wine before operating the vehicle. According to court filings, Anderson left the scene without stopping to render aid.
Anderson faces charges of felony vehicular manslaughter and felony leaving the scene of an injury accident. The state requested a $1 million bond, arguing that Anderson poses a significant risk to the community. A judge set the bond at $1 million on Monday, and Anderson remains booked into Canyon County Jail.
Defense Challenges Prosecution’s Account
Anderson’s defense attorney contested the prosecution’s narrative during the bond hearing. The attorney argued there is no confirmed evidence of intoxication and claimed Chrapkowski was riding against traffic. The defense further alleged that road hazards, specifically goatheads on the sidewalks, forced the teen into Anderson’s lane.
