Boise Airport is replacing parking equipment that is about 10 years old and nearing the end of its supported lifespan. The new system is expected to be fully operational in about two weeks.
The upgrade includes license plate recognition technology and parking tickets with QR codes for online payment. Drivers who pay online will have their license plates recognized at the exit gates.
Traditional cash and card payments will remain available at parking kiosks with an attendant. The system will serve Boise Airport’s short-term and long-term parking facilities.
Sean Briggs, who oversees parking operations at Boise Airport, said most travelers will use the same entrances and exits during the transition. License plate readers still must be installed at the exit gates before the system is fully operational.
Parking operations will continue normally while the equipment is phased in.
