A 12-year-old boy from Boise died following a water submersion incident at Trinity Hot Springs near Featherville, Idaho, the Ada County Coroner’s Office confirmed on June 24, 2026. The Featherville area, located in Elmore County southeast of Boise, is a popular outdoor recreation destination frequented by Treasure Valley families during the summer months.

Details surrounding the circumstances of the incident have not been fully disclosed, and no additional information was immediately available from the coroner’s office. The boy’s identity has not been publicly released.

The tragedy serves as a sobering reminder of the dangers that can accompany outdoor water recreation, including natural hot springs, which can pose risks related to high water temperatures, slippery surfaces, and strong currents in nearby waterways. Ada County families traveling to recreational sites outside the valley are encouraged to closely supervise children around any body of water.

Public safety officials across the region have been tracking multiple outdoor hazards this summer. A vegetation fire south of Kuna recently burned 154 acres, and Ada County commissioners voted to restrict fireworks in high fire risk zones ahead of the July 4th holiday, underscoring the range of seasonal dangers facing Treasure Valley residents and visitors.

The Ada County Coroner’s Office is expected to release further findings as the investigation continues. Families with questions or concerns regarding water safety resources can contact Idaho Parks and Recreation or local emergency management agencies for guidance on safe recreation practices this summer.
