Boise Housing Affordability
Boise secured the 47th position overall. While the Treasure Valley market performs better than Southern California’s worst, the report notes that housing remains unaffordable for many prospective buyers in Ada County. The median home price in Boise stands at $601,000, a figure that continues to challenge local families and first-time homeowners trying to enter the market.
California Housing Struggles
Los Angeles received the lowest ranking among all 100 metros evaluated. The city’s poor standing is attributed to severe affordability issues and sluggish homebuilding output. Los Angeles posted an affordability score of just 0.318, indicating extreme difficulty for residents to purchase homes relative to income levels.
The report characterizes California as consistently problematic regarding overpriced housing. In addition to Los Angeles, seven other California metropolitan areas received failing grades on the national assessment. These results underscore the broader challenges facing homeownership in the state compared to more mid-range markets like Idaho’s capital region.
