Boise Leaders Plan Accessible Playground at Liberty Park

Boise leaders and neighborhood partners are inviting residents to a golden shovel groundbreaking ceremony for improvements at Liberty Park on the city’s Central Bench. The 9-acre park is located off Emerald Street and includes a community garden and a baseball field used for little league games.

Liberty Park Playground Improvements

The project will replace the existing playground with a design by Garrett Parks + Play, which received more than 51% of the vote. Planned features include inclusive swings, climbing structures, an accessible ramp, playground shades and a red, white and blue theme.

The new playground will use bonded rubber surfacing and include other accessible elements. A permanent restroom also is planned.

Boise Park Project Funding

More than $2 million is budgeted for the park improvements. Funding will come from impact fees, capital dollars and a Land and Water Conservation Fund grant.

Impact fees will pay for landscaping, park seating and other site amenities.
