Boise Parks and Recreation has completed a major expansion at Charles F. McDevitt Youth Sports Complex, opening new recreational facilities funded by local impact fees. The project transforms 10 acres of previously unused land in West Boise into active community space.
New Amenities for Residents
The $1.4 million upgrade adds a pump track, nature playground, bike trails, basketball court, and dog park to the complex. Construction spanned more than a year before the facilities were ready for public use.
Boise Parks and Recreation Superintendent Alicia Records said the design process relied heavily on community feedback. She noted that the layout aims to serve residents across various age groups and ability levels.
Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony Planned
City officials will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony and community event to mark the opening. The celebration is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 17, at 11 a.m.
Records highlighted the design intent behind the new bike trails, stating, “We’re trying to make you feel like you’re out in the foothills when you’re experiencing your bike ride.”
