A person was hospitalized Thursday evening following a water rescue on the Boise River near Marianne Williams Park in Boise. The incident occurred around 5 p.m. on July 3 when a person went underwater and did not resurface while floating in the river.
Bystanders who witnessed the emergency immediately began cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) while emergency responders were summoned to the scene. Boise Fire Dive Team personnel arrived and deployed specialized equipment, including a dive boat and utility terrain vehicle, to reach the individual.
Once located, the patient was transported to a nearby walking path where paramedics could provide advanced medical care before transfer to a hospital. The person’s condition at the time of transport was not immediately disclosed.
The rescue demonstrates the importance of water safety awareness along the Boise River, which draws thousands of residents and visitors throughout the year. Quick action by bystanders and the rapid response of local emergency services likely made a critical difference in the outcome of the incident.
Residents enjoying the river during summer months are encouraged to wear life jackets, avoid swimming in unfamiliar areas, and remain aware of changing water conditions. Those who witness someone in distress should call 911 immediately rather than delay emergency response.
