Boise State to Install Bronze Statue Honoring Quarterback Kellen Moore at Albertsons Stadium

Boise State Athletics has announced plans to erect a permanent bronze statue of Kellen Moore outside Albertsons Stadium, commemorating one of the most decorated players in program history. The nine-foot statue, which will stand over 11 feet tall after installation, is being created by sculptor Ben Victor and funded by Randy and Lisa Hales and Capital Eleven. The monument is expected to be completed during the upcoming football season and will be positioned near the northeast entrance of Albertsons Stadium, adjacent to the Bleymaier Football Center.

Moore’s Legacy as a Bronco Quarterback

Moore holds an extraordinary record at Boise State, leading the Broncos to a 50-3 mark as the starting quarterback while earning four first-team All-American honors. He made history as the university’s first Heisman Trophy finalist, establishing himself as one of the most accomplished signal-callers in school history. Moore was inducted into the Boise State Athletics Hall of Fame in 2018, recognizing his impact on the program and the university.

The statue itself is scaled at 1.5 times life size and captures Moore in a characteristic left-handed windup, dressed in full Boise State uniform and posed on blue turf. The artwork reflects the quarterback’s iconic stance and the football traditions central to the Broncos’ identity.

Honoring Moore’s Post-Boise State Success

Moore’s achievements extend well beyond his college career. Most recently, he won the Super Bowl as the offensive coordinator of the Philadelphia Eagles during the 2024 season—a remarkable professional accomplishment that underscores his influence on the game at the highest level. He currently serves as head coach of the New Orleans Saints, continuing his leadership in professional football.

Director of Athletics Jeramiah Dickey emphasized Moore’s broader significance to the university. “Kellen Moore represents what it means to be a Bronco. His leadership, humility, competitiveness, and commitment to excellence helped define an era,” Dickey said in a statement.

Additional Stadium Honors and Legacy Recognition

The statue unveiling was announced during the Pac-12 Launch Party, marking a significant moment for Boise State athletics as the university transitions into its new conference alignment. Beyond the bronze monument, Moore will be further honored through orange sideline hash marks placed at the 2-yard and 11-yard lines on the new Blue Turf—numbers that hold personal significance tied to his career.

Aston Jeanty, another standout Bronco, will also receive similar recognition with orange sideline hash marks, ensuring that multiple generations of Boise State football excellence are commemorated at the stadium.

Randy Hales, one of the primary donors funding the statue, underscored Moore’s impact both as a player and ambassador for the university. “Kellen Moore gave Boise State many unforgettable moments on the field, while also representing the values that make this university special,” Hales said.

The statue will be the second permanent bronze monument around Albertsons Stadium. Lyle Smith’s statue, honoring another Boise State football legend, stands in front of the Allen Noble Hall of Fame, establishing a tradition of permanently recognizing the program’s most significant contributors.

What Comes Next

Boise State fans and members of the Bronco community can expect to see the Moore statue in place by the end of the current football season. The installation will create a meaningful landmark for visitors and current students, serving as a daily reminder of the excellence and tradition Boise State football represents.
