Boise Woman Arrested After Early Morning Shooting Leaves Victim With Life-Threatening Injuries
A 21-year-old Boise woman is in custody following a shooting in southwest Boise that left a man hospitalized with life-threatening injuries early Saturday morning. Sophie Rains, of Boise, faces a charge of aggravated battery in connection with the incident.
Boise Police responded just before 1:00 a.m. on May 17 to the area near W. Belmont Street and S. Longmont Avenue after callers reported a shooting. Officers arrived to find a male victim suffering from two gunshot wounds. Ada County Paramedics assisted at the scene before the victim was transported to St. Alphonsus Hospital in serious condition.
Investigators searched the surrounding area for a suspect. Rains was eventually identified and turned herself in at the Boise Police station, according to police.

This is one of several recent public safety incidents drawing attention in Ada County. Boise police also recently arrested three individuals following a traffic stop where large quantities of marijuana and THC were seized.
