Idaho State Police are investigating a serious crash on Interstate 84 east of Boise that shut down westbound lanes for roughly 13 hours over the weekend. The incident happened Saturday, June 27, 2026, at approximately 10:25 p.m. near mile marker 67.

According to authorities, a vehicle had been pulled over on the westbound shoulder when the driver stepped out and was struck by another westbound-traveling vehicle. The collision forced an extended closure of westbound I-84 lanes, which lasted into Sunday before reopening.

Idaho State Police have not yet released details on the condition of the person who was struck or the circumstances that led to the vehicle being stopped. The investigation remains ongoing.

This is not the first time a major I-84 incident near Boise has resulted in an extended highway shutdown. A separate crash west of Boise also closed I-84 for 13 hours after a driver was struck on the roadway under similar circumstances.

Drivers traveling I-84 through the Treasure Valley are reminded that pulling over on an active highway carries significant risk, particularly after dark. Law enforcement and transportation officials routinely urge motorists to move well off the travel lanes when stopping, and to use emergency flashers to increase visibility.

Ada County commuters and travelers using the I-84 corridor should monitor Idaho Transportation Department advisories for updates on the investigation and any future traffic impacts. Idaho State Police have not indicated a timeline for completing their inquiry.
