Former Boise County Sheriff’s Deputy Charged With Three Felonies, Held on $500K Bail
A former Boise County Sheriff’s Office deputy is behind bars on $500,000 bail following his arrest in Meridian on felony charges, including aggravated assault, first-degree stalking, and attempted strangulation.
Meridian Police took Bryce Cole into custody on May 14. Court proceedings moved quickly, with Cole arraigned the following day. A judge set his bail at half a million dollars and issued a no-contact order. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. on May 28.
Cole joined the Boise County Sheriff’s Office in 2020, coming to the role after serving as a dispatcher and volunteering with an ambulance service. Boise County Sheriff Scott Turner confirmed that Cole had already been placed on administrative leave before his arrest and is no longer employed by the department.
The charges carry serious consequences under Idaho law. Attempted strangulation and first-degree stalking are among the more serious felony offenses in the state’s criminal code, and the elevated bail amount reflects the judge’s assessment of the case’s severity.
No additional details about the circumstances leading to the charges have been made public. The case will move to a preliminary hearing later this month, where a judge will determine whether sufficient probable cause exists to proceed toward trial.
