The publications, which have started arriving in mailboxes, provide essential information on ballot measures, voting dates, and registration procedures.
Ballot Measures Included in Voter Pamphlet
The pamphlet outlines several significant questions appearing on the November ballot. Proposition 1 seeks to repeal the state’s abortion ban and establish reproductive rights protections. Additionally, voters will consider a proposed constitutional amendment that would limit the authority to legalize drugs exclusively to the Idaho Legislature.
Other measures include a constitutional amendment proposing English as the official state language and an advisory question asking residents whether the state should designate an official state gun. The publication does not contain information about candidates running for office, a limitation that has drawn attention from election officials in previous years.
Efforts to Expand Voter Information
Secretary of State Phil McGrane previously proposed legislation in 2023 and 2024 to replace the current pamphlet with a comprehensive voter guide that would include candidate information. The Idaho Legislature did not approve those measures, leaving the format unchanged for this cycle.
“Election season is underway,” Secretary of State Phil McGrane said. “Every household in Idaho can expect to receive a Voter Pamphlet with the information you need to be ready to vote in November.”
Accessing Election Resources Online
Residents who prefer digital access or require alternative formats can find resources at VoteIdaho.gov. The site offers online versions of the pamphlet, Spanish translations, audio formats, and sample ballots. This edition of the voter information package carries an “America 250” theme, commemorating 250 years of American history.
A 2024 Boise State University poll indicated that 78% of Idahoans favor a state-issued voter guide that includes candidate details. Despite this public preference, the current pamphlet remains focused solely on ballot measures and election logistics rather than individual races for statewide constitutional offices or legislative districts.
