Second Costco Warehouse Opening in Meridian by Year-End 2026

United States Capitol

A second Costco warehouse is under construction in Meridian, positioning the city to become the only municipality in Idaho with two locations of the membership-based retailer. The facility, situated at the intersection of South Meridian and West Lake Hazel roads, is slated to open in late 2026 and will bring significant retail capacity to Ada County’s fastest-growing community.

Major Retail Expansion at South Meridian

The new Costco will occupy just over 200,000 square feet, making it among the chain’s largest locations. The warehouse will include a gas station with 16 pumps and nearly 1,000 parking stalls to accommodate the high-volume foot traffic typical of Costco locations. According to Jake Farris, a real estate agent with Farris Home Team at Keller Williams, “This site is going to be one of the largest Costcos at just a little over 200,000 square feet.”

The gas station configuration mirrors the setup at Costco’s existing Chinden Boulevard location in Boise, offering members fuel convenience alongside warehouse shopping. The substantial parking capacity reflects demand in the region, where Meridian’s population has surged over the past decade.

Expanding Costco’s Treasure Valley Footprint

When the Meridian location opens, it will become Costco’s fourth store in the Treasure Valley and eighth across the state of Idaho. Currently, Costco operates locations in Boise, Coeur d’Alene, Idaho Falls, Nampa, Pocatello, and Twin Falls. The addition underscores the retailer’s confidence in Ada County’s market growth and the demand for membership warehouse shopping in the region.

Meridian’s emergence as a retail hub reflects broader patterns of commercial development transforming the city. Major projects like the Village at Meridian’s final phase, which added Apple, Capital Grille, and 14 new retailers, demonstrate ongoing investment by national and regional chains. The Costco project signals continued confidence in Meridian as a destination for large-format retail and consumer spending.

Impact on Ada County Shoppers and Traffic

The new warehouse will offer Meridian residents and Ada County shoppers an alternative to the existing Costco on Chinden Boulevard in Boise, potentially reducing travel time and congestion on regional roadways. For residents in south Meridian, Eagle, and surrounding areas, the proximity of a second location provides convenient access to the warehouse’s bulk purchasing, pharmacy services, fuel, and food court offerings.

The project also aligns with ongoing infrastructure planning affecting the area. State and local officials have prioritized planning for the Lake Hazel Road extension, which could improve traffic flow to and from retail developments along the South Meridian corridor.

What Comes Next

Meridian residents and Ada County shoppers can expect to see construction activity continue through the remainder of 2026. Once operational, the South Meridian and West Lake Hazel location will join Meridian’s growing list of major retail anchors, further solidifying the city’s position as a commercial center in the Treasure Valley. Business hours, membership details, and pharmacy operations will likely be announced as the opening date approaches.
