Three arrested after traffic stop in Boise, large quantities of marijuana and THC seized

Three out-of-state men are facing multiple charges after a late-night traffic stop in Boise turned into a significant drug bust on May 14, 2026. The stop occurred just before midnight near West Chinden Boulevard and East Veterans’ Memorial Parkway after the driver failed to stop behind a marked crosswalk.

Officers approached the vehicle and detected the odor of marijuana coming from inside. A probable cause search led to the discovery of large quantities of marijuana and THC products, along with drug paraphernalia and materials indicating the intent to package, sell, and distribute the marijuana.

The driver, Christopher Alas, 28, of West Covina, California, and front-seat passenger Terrell Reedus, 37, of Van Nuys, California, were both taken into custody. A third occupant, Michael Lewis, 40, of Las Vegas, Nevada, consented to a separate search, during which officers found drug paraphernalia on his person.

All three were arrested and booked into the Ada County Jail on multiple charges. Lewis’s situation worsened upon arrival at the jail — detention staff discovered two concealed baggies of a presumed illegal substance on his person, resulting in two additional felony charges against him.

Idaho remains one of the strictest states in the nation when it comes to marijuana enforcement, with no legal recreational or medical marijuana program in place. Possession and distribution carry serious criminal penalties under state law. Ada County law enforcement has continued to flag drug trafficking through the Treasure Valley as an ongoing concern.
