Garden City Pursuit Ends in Crash, Leaving Subaru Driver Seriously Injured

A driver who fled an Eagle Police traffic stop early Saturday morning was hospitalized with serious injuries after a pursuit through Garden City ended in a collision at a busy intersection.

Around 1 a.m. on June 6, an Eagle Police deputy attempted to pull over a black Subaru near the intersection of N. Glenwood Street and W. State Street. Rather than stopping, the driver headed southbound on N. Glenwood Street after the deputy activated emergency lights. The vehicle traveled roughly 1.5 miles before the driver attempted a westbound turn onto W. Chinden Boulevard.

The Subaru struck a truck at that intersection. The male driver of the Subaru was transported to a hospital with serious injuries. A female passenger in the Subaru suffered minor injuries and was also taken to a hospital, where she was later released. The driver of the truck was not injured in the crash.

The Ada County Sheriff’s Office is leading the investigation into the incident. No additional details regarding the circumstances prompting the initial traffic stop have been released.

Garden City sits along the Boise River corridor and shares boundaries with Boise and other Treasure Valley communities, making roadway safety along thoroughfares like Chinden Boulevard an ongoing concern for area residents. Anyone dealing with stress or crisis in Ada County can find support resources through programs like those highlighted during Mental Health Month at Boise State.
